Paula and Family,

I was saddened to hear of Joe's passing. I remember my admiration for him in High School and later watching him become a champion for the people of Somerville. He extended that kindness to my family and we will be forever grateful. I hope the love you feel from everyone brings you comfort in the days ahead.

I've just found out about Joe's passing and am quite shocked by it. Joe was a leading progressive force in Somerville politics. Because of people like him, the city is a better place. My condolences to the Mackey family.

Paula, Erin, Chris and Alyssa,
We're heart broken at this news and want you to know that you're in our thoughts and prayers. Joe will always stand out as an inspiration to us. We were blessed and privileged to know him...far too briefly.
