JOSEPH MARKOWITZ

Joe was one of my best friends at University of Pennsylvania, and certainly among the brightest of that crew of graduate students. I remember our hiking and camping together on the Appalachian Trail.
After leaving Penn, we met only a couple of times and at least once in DC after his marriage to Nancy. I often thought of him and his wry humor. I am sorry to just now be learning of his death, but happy to know of his long successful marriage and family.
