Joseph McInerney Obituary

McINERNEY Joseph Alexander McInerney passed away peacefully with his children by his side on Monday, April 21, 2008, at 10:15 p.m, at Ochsner Kenner Regional Hospital. He was 91 years young. He was born on August 17, 1916, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Marie Bridgedotte Carreras and Alexander McInerney. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Audrey Graff McInerney. He is survived by one son, Ernest McInerney, wife Jean, and two daughters, Cheryl Leonard and Sheila Fontenelle and husband Scuddy. He is also survived by 9 grand-children, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Joseph is retired from Falstaff Brewery and the New Orleans School Board. He was a devoted husband , father and grandfather. He will be fondly remembered by relatives and friends for his kind, loving heart and happy, humorous nature. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and by all those who knew him. A special thank you to Drs. Ehsan and Martinez and assisting nurses, Danny and Connie, at Ochsner Kenner Regional for their kind, caring and compassionate treatment of our father. Relatives and friends are invited to join in celebrating his life at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Saturday, April 26, 2008. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 12 noon with a mass following at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to New Orleans Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
