Family-Placed Death Notice
MITCHELL, Joseph Joseph "Joe" Mitchell, 76, of Atlanta, GA passes away October 11, 2011 from complications from Diabetes. Mr. Mitchell was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Stephens, and Carolyn Reynolds Mitchell. Joe was the nephew of Margaret Mitchell who he enjoyed reminiscing about, and who died in 1949. Her love for books inspired his desire for the knowledge of great literature. He attended the University of Georgia for his Undergraduate studies in Literature, and then went on to Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. for his Master's Degree in English Literature. Joe loved reading the Classics, and the Bible, and had a great appreciation for Classical Music. Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his brother Eugene Muse Mitchell, and his stepmother Anita Bentine Mitchell. He is survived by his sister in-law Virginia Mitchell of Farmington, MI, and several cousins in Atlanta. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, October 17, 2011 at The Cathedral of Christ The King, 2699 Peachtree RD NE, Atlanta, GA . Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. I will greatly miss Joe. he was a very kind and sweet.We always talked of movies and all the traveling he did when he was younger.When I was doing his hair and he would hold on to my arm he always said be careful i do not want to hurt your arm.To his family always remember all your special times together.my deepest coondolence.
