I knew Joe briefly as a colleague, housemate, intellectual sparring partner, and friend. Upon meeting, it was immediately clear that he was a gifted young man with a kind heart. Dear Joanne, Tim, and Maggie:

Words cannot express how difficult it was to hear about Joe. He was only a few years younger than my nephews and could not imagine a loss of life at such an early age.
