Funeral services for Joseph Running Hawk, 53, of Bullhead, SD, will be Monday, Nov. 5th at 1:00PM, CST, at the Bullhead Community Center. Burial will follow at St. John's Episcopal Cemetery, Bullhead, under the direction of Stout Family Funeral Home, Mobridge. Meet at the hill above Bullhead at 5:45PM Sunday to process to the community center for an all-night wake with services beginning at 7:00PM. Joseph entered the spirit world Oct. 29, 2012. www.stoutfamilyfh.com Joseph Emery Running Hawk was born August 29, 1959 in Fort Yates, North Dakota to Ambrose L. and Emily (Leaf) Running Hawk. He was raised and educated in Bullhead, attending Bullhead Day School. He attended McIntosh High School, he graduating in 1978. He excelled in sports, playing basketball, football and softball, but enjoyed basketball the most. His jersey numbers were #14 & #15. Joe, or Joe Pig, as he was affectionately known, lived in Bullhead the rest of his life. He worked on and off as a laborer in various fields and was also on several boards. He served on the Standing Rock Housing Board, the EPA Board and the Rock Creek School Board. Joe enjoyed hanging out with his friends and buddies, but also loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to play marble board games and also became quite good at making the aggravation game boards. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Laurie Jo Running Hawk, Schalemar Flying Horse, Amber Hawk Bear, Emily Runing Hawk and Jacque Thompson; his special friend of 11 years, Jonelle Red Bear; grandchildren, Kylen, Zavier, Kruz and Kodi Running Hawk, mercedes Chase, Melyssa Hawk Bear, Miranda Dubray, Hunny & Harley Running Hawk, Tatum Fischer and 2 more on the way; sister, Edith Running Hawk and brother, Leon Running Hawk. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Emily Running Hawk; brothers, John Running Hawk, Sr., Benny Foote, Robert Foote, Sr., Eugene Leaf, Sr., niece; Misty Running Hawk; nephew, Robert Foote, Jr.; aunts, Sophie (Running Hawk) Archambault, Mary Yellow Earrings, Jenny Running Hawk, Josephine Hollow and grandchildren, Torrey Rosebud and Easton White Eagle.
