I personally will miss Brother Joe. As a youth at Calvary Baptist in Silver Creek, I had the privilige of seeing Joe model dedication and service. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

None of you know me, but I am a distant cousin. I guess Jo Ann is the only one that may even remotely know who I am or any of my immediate family. His mother (Aunt Lilly Benson Sharp) and my grandfather (Spurgeon Benson) were brother & sister. I didn't know my grandfathers' family very well as he died when my father (T. J. Benson) was a baby. Mr. Joe was an important role model for the youth of Calvary. He helped shape and mold several of us with Christian values that he lived and studied each day. He was truly a light to a lot of "paths". Joann, he was a wonderful man. The world will miss him. He was such a "blessing" in my life.
