I personally will miss Brother Joe. As a youth at Calvary Baptist in Silver Creek, I had the privilige of seeing Joe model dedication and service. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

None of you know me, but I am a distant cousin. I guess Jo Ann is the only one that may even remotely know who I am or any of my immediate family. His mother (Aunt Lilly Benson Sharp) and my grandfather (Spurgeon Benson) were brother & sister. I didn't know my grandfathers' family very well as he died when my father (T. J. Benson) was a baby. I remember going with my grandmother (Letha Ard Benson) to see Aunt Lilly a few times and being told she was Joe Sharp, "the mailman's," mother. I haven't seen him since I was a girl when he delivered my grandmother's mail. I remember he always took time to speak to me when he stopped or wave if we didn't have any mail. Adults never know when their actions may impress a young child. Joe Sharp left a very positive impression with this little girl. I think the world has lost a very fine example and our young people have so few good examples to look up to in the community today. As I grow older, my family becomes more important to me. I'm honored to have known him and to be his cousin. I'm very sorry for you loss. I know you will miss him very much.

Philippians 1:3 "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you."
Mr. Joe was an important role model for the youth of Calvary. He helped shape and mold several of us with Christian values that he lived and studied each day. He was truly a light to a lot of "paths". Joann, he was a wonderful man. The world will miss him. He was such a "blessing" in my life.
When Jeff and I moved to GA I missed seeing Mr Joe every Sunday. He will be greatly missed by us both. So sorry my job keeps me from attending -- you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Susan and Jeff Myers
