My family and I just learned of Joe's death. Our sincere condolences to his wife and children. Joe was a long-time friend and employer. He and Lee helped me get a start in working at home typing up tax returns while my children were small. As a son of Stephen Girard's, Joe was raised in Girard College in Phila. His life of industry, family and compassion for others made him popular with his classmates and everyone in the Girard family. His life was truly representative of our benefactor's vision.
