Josephine Richardson Obituary

Josephine "Josie" Sarah Richardson died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at the age of 89 in Arlington. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Barnabas United Methodist Church in Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home-Bowen Road Chapel in Arlington. She was born April 23, 1924, in Alvord to Gus and Alice Green. Josie was an avid Texas Rangers fan and loved to talk baseball. She made the best chicken-fried steak, macaroni and cheese, cornbread dressing and pecan pie. Despite her down-home cooking, Josie remained very active and fit. She was a natural athlete who golfed and bowled. She shot a hole-in-one on two separate occasions and frequently bowled above 200. She and her husband, Jack, were members of Rolling Hills Country Club in Arlington and later at De Cordova Bend Country Club in Granbury. She was a member in regular attendance at St. Barnabas United Methodist Church. Her life was a shining example of love and servanthood. Josie fought the good fight and finished well. The following was written by her 9-year-old great-grandson, Jacob: Josie lived a very good life, but it was just time to go to heaven. Evil had won but also lost because now she is in heaven. Just please, oh please, just please say a beautiful, long prayer for Josie. Josie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Andrew J. "Jack" Richardson; son, Charles Richardson; and sister, Ruby McClung. Survivors: Daughter, Jackie Heinz and husband, John; grandson, Sean Heinz and wife, Whitley; grandson, Andy Heinz and wife, Michelle; grandson, Jeff Heinz and wife, Melissa. She leaves behind seven great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; a multitude of friends; and a hole in each of our hearts.

After WW II, I well remember wanting to meet my Uncle Jack Richardson's "girl-friend". What a delight she was upon our first meeting.
I remember telling Mom (Mattie Lee Richardson Smith), "Boy, Uncle Jack can sure "pick-um"...and sure enough, Aunt Josie became a very special relative which we always loved dearly.
As you can imagine I can tell lot's of fun stories about Uncle Jack, Aunt Josie and my younger cousin, Jackie.
WE ARE SO COMFORTED TO STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT JOSIE IS REALLY ENJOYING HER LORD JESUS CHRIST, WHO PROBABLY HAS SETTLED HER INTO THE HOLY CITY RESIDENCE PREPARED JUST FOR HER.
What a "wonderful hope" for each one who "keeps the terms of Jesus Christ's New Covenant"!
Well done, John and Jackie, Sean, Andy, Jeff and family...Ya'll did a great job of "caring for Aunt Josie".
Love, Jon Dean, Donna, Jon Alan, Pamela and our families.
