Joshua James Dickey
1988-2017
After his long struggle with addiction, Josh passed away on January 5, 2017. He is survived by his mother, Sherry Dickey; his father, Jimmy Dickey and his wife Sheila; brother, Jeremy Dickey; grandmother, Betty Allison; grandfathers, Bob Smith and Jim Dickey Sr.; aunt, Laurie Smith; uncle, Darrell Dickey and his wife Tory; cousins Devin, Bubba, and Meredith; many other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Inez Dickey and aunt, Debbie Dickey. Josh loved playing the guitar, writing songs, doing art and laughing with his friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to House of Hope in Madisonville, an in-patient addiction recovery facility that does not charge for their services. (houseofhopemadisonville.com)While Josh did not win his battle with addiction, he can win through others succeeding. Visitation will be Friday, January 13, from 5pm – 8pm. The funeral is Saturday, at 11 am. Both celebrations will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home.

We are so very sorry about Josh. He was so intelligent, and a wonderfully gifted songwriter and guitarist. More importantly, he was kind. When Josh worked at Sharky's some time ago, he always made a point to come speak to us even when he was not our waiter. We were so happy Josh was able to attend John's wedding 2 years ago. I was so saddened to hear about Josh. He waited on me and my co-workers at Sharkey's a couple of years ago. He recognized me - - not the other way around! I never could get used to seeing all of the boys Tom was in school with all grown up! He was so polite and sweet to all of us. Tom and I have been reminiscing about the times he went with Josh to see the Rolling Stones and Mitch Hedberg - - good times that he will never forget! May you find comfort in knowing he is now in the hands of God.
