I first met Joy in the 1970's when she had a gallery at Rocky Neck in Gloucester. My mother used to gallery sit for Joy and some of the other artists. Joy became a treasured friend to both my mother and me. I stayed in touch with Joy even after I moved to Oregon in the mid-70's.
