Joyce Allgood Obituary
Born on December 12, 1936, in Nelson County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence W. Johnson Sr. and Dollie Thacker Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George William Ware Sr.; her daughter, Cynthia Ware; two brothers, George "Benny" Johnson and Lawrence "Lonny" Johnson; one sister, Shirley A. Meadows; and her second husband, Marshal L. Allgood.
Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. To know her was to love her. She loved to read her Bible. Her favorite verse was John 14:1-4. Joyce was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Madison Heights, Va.
Joyce is survived by two brothers, Clarence "CW" Johnson Jr. and Thomas (Linda) Johnson; sister, Gloria (Miles) VanSkike; sons, George William Ware Jr. and Charles (Tina) Ware; two daughters, Judith C. Ware and Dianne (Clyde) Minter; stepchildren, Brenda (Mike) Miller, Janice Allgood, Donnie (Darlene) Allgood, Robert (Regina) Allgood, and Pamela (David) Miller; grandchildren, Kristin, Jenna, Charles, Amy, Michael, Rachael, April, Ashley, Angela, Patricia, Carolyn, and Victoria, many great-grandchildren and other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Whitten Monelison Chapel, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3 p.m. with Pastor Pete Sudlow officiating. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Temple Baptist Church, 4465 South Amherst Highway, Madison Heights, VA 24572.
