Not sure what to say?

I was in Graduate School at the U of Illinois with Juan. He was one of my favorite people from Graduate School. I had lost touch with him and just today was searching the internet for him. I was saddened to learn that he had passed away. I doubt that many of his family and friends knew how hard he worked and how much he sacrificed to become a PhD and then an MD. He was a wonderful person and I wish I had kept in contact over the years.

Juan Cardenas was a wonderful, warm, caring man. Always made myself and my little brothers feel like he was happy to see us and special. As a high school athlete Dr. Cardenas even came out to watch a game of mine... where he had several patients competeing. Very sad to hear of his passing. A person I would have loved to take my children to.

My daughter was a patient of Dr. Cardenas for 20 years and went on to see a physician for adults. We just recently found out that Dr. Cardenas has passed. My daughter has a son now and had hoped he would be his pediatrician. Our hearts go out to Dr.Cardenas's family, he was a great man and physician

The Mohney Family

I had the great pleasure of knowing and working with Juan for over 25 years in both pediatrics and neonatology. He was an amazing person and and an exceptional physician. I always kidded him about his better half Deanna and he always immediately agreed with me. I have only fond and warm memories of Juan and his family.

Dear Reader;
My name is Natalie Cardenas. I am Jaun Cardenas's granddaughter. My grandfather.. My grandfather was the most gracious, kind, loving, thoughtful person I know. Every summer I would visit him. It was the time of year I would look forward to most. Everytime I think of my grandpa I think of the summer. I remeber when I was little we would go swimming, my sister grandpa and I, and he would tell us there were sharks in the lake. I was little and didn't know any better so I would...

Dr. Cardenas was THE best pediatrician anyone could ask for. He truly cared about the kids and their families. My prayers are with his family during this very difficult time.

Dr. Cardenas was the BEST doctor a family could have!!! He always took the time with our kids and would call and check up on them the next day. He even came in on a Sunday when our son was really sick so we wouldn't have to sit in the emergency room all day. He was amazing, I have so many stories of Dr. C, the love for his job was evident by the care my kids received and by the time he spent seeing how the whole family was doing. Our prayers go out to his wife, kids and grandkids. He will...

Love ya, Dr. C!

Dr. Cardenas was the best pediatrician, friend and mentor a person could ever have. He was my childrens pediatrician for 20 years. He not only cared for my children medically but also emotionally. He gave educational guidance and life counseling with every visit. Juan has been a true mentor for my son. Even a week before he died my son had the opportunity to speak to Juan on the phone about his educational path. When my daughter came down with H1N1 in November and I didn't feel her...
