Julia KUNES Obituary
Julia Kunes, died Monday evening surrounded by her family after a courageous struggle with cancer. Dearly beloved daughter of Robert (Beck) Kunes and Anita Nonneman; cherished sister of Jason and Jennifer Kunes; beloved granddaughter of the late William and Ella Kunes and Frederick and Julia Nonneman; beloved niece of Roger (Mary) Kunes, Tom (Kathy)Kunes, Dan (Betty) Kunes, Elaine Nonneman, and Lois (Joseph) Agnello; dear cousin of many. Along with many longtime friends, Julia is survived by her beloved cats, Buster, SiSi, Sonny and Fredo who have been lovingly adopted by her Aunt Lois and Uncle Joe. Julia attended the University of Cincinnati and later received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Cleveland State University in 2004. Among her many loyal friendships are those she made while working at Jekyll's of Hyde Park during her years in Cincinnati. Julia later resided in Lakewood, OH where she served as President of the Frederick and Julia Nonneman Charitable Foundation. Donations in honor of Julia's life may be made to the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd, Kanab, Utah 84741. Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, May 28, at 10am in St. Christopher Church, 20141 Detroit Rd. Interment Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call at the Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home 20820 Lorain Rd from 6-8pm Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8pm Friday

My name is Catherine Galvin. I believe Julie was the person I was pen pals with during grammar school and high school. We lost touch years ago and upon talking about memories with friends I wondered what happened to my old pen pal. When I Googled her name and Lakewood Ohio I came across this obituary. I was deeply saddened to hear she passed away. I wish I had a moment to reconnect ask how she had been or what her life was like but .... My heart breaks for your loss. I remember he telling me about her trip to Denmark and things she did in high school and her cat Lewis. I am so very sorry to hear of Julie's passing my deepest sympathies to her family and friends. Unfortunately I never had the pleasure to meet Julie in person (she almost came to Portugal last year, but cancelled last minute). Valdemar always spoke of her as a wonderful, warm and great-haerted friend. Sometimes life does strange things to people. But I am sure, where ever she is now, she is surrounded by piece and love. Julie is already greatly missed. She was a warm, kind, loving, and generous person fortunate to have such a caring and supportive family. Her Dad and I have been friends for 35 years. She was so very dear to him that I cannot imagine what a loss this has been. She left us much too early leaving Jason and Jennifer to carry on the trio's worldliness.

How quickly a life goes by. From golden-blond, all-American child to a warm, understanding adult, Julia was the most beautiful person. Julie, Jason, Jennifer and I spent time together every weekday from their daycare through early teen years. Was there anyone Julie didn’t like in her grade-school class? “No, I like everybody.” That’s the way she was -- every cat and every person. When Grandma Kunes gave her a religious statue that got broken, Julie was in tears. With a shake of her head, Jennifer, being more practical said, “Throw it in the rubbish”. Keedle-Leedle was a forever companion. Bless you Julia. We will see you again. Right now I imagine you are in Heaven with both sets of grandparents. Probably rolling your eyes because Ella is making a big fuss about your watched-for arrival. Rest assured, and in peace, everywhere you go people are happy to share time with you. Much love,

Words cannot explain how much I will miss you. Since the day we meet - you have been my sister. The lovely times we spent together in Denmark, New York, Cleveland, Toronto and Florida will forever stand in my heart as the times of my life. And even after all these years of not seeing each other we spoke on the phone last summer as if only a month went by.
You told me about your sickness and we cried together. We planned a trip together, but you didn´t have the strength to go through with it.
I will always love you and be greatful that I got to know you.
