Not sure what to say?

Gone, but certainly not forgotten, the lessons I learned as one of Judge Mack´s two first law clerks have been passed on to thousands of students in my law classes and attendees at my presentations over the years. Her keen intellect, insight, kindness, patience, willingness to stand steadfast for what was right in the face of opposition and her ready laughter are all traits that have stayed with me since she hired me in 1975. We stayed in touch until she died. She is still missed to this day,...

I was honored to have the opportunity to
be hired by Judge Mack and work for her in the appellate division of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. I learned so much from her,not only about the law but about
balancing new motherhood and working as
an attorney. Her wise counsel and compassion meant so much to a new mother and working attorney. She was
brilliant, beautiful and had more dignity and grace than anyone I have
ever known.

Sincere condolences to the family of Judge Mack. "Earth hath no sorrow that Heaven can not heal."
Peace,

She was one of a kind, neighbor, confidante and mentor. My parents adored her, and I was honored that she considered me a friend. "Aunt" Julie will never be forgotten. Cheryl, thanks for sharing your beloved mother with us. Deepest condolences to you and the family.

With my deepest Heart felt words, Mrs. Cheryl It is a Honor to be a part of your moms life and yours, I will truly miss her and be there for you, Her kind words and advice I Will heed to forever, I Love you Honorable Judge Julia Cooper Mack, Dear One Rest in Peace.

My family and I were blessed to be her neighbor and have her as a friend for over 40 years. Her kindness is what I will remember the most. She was a wonderful lady with a big heart. Her presence will truly be missed. Cheryl, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May God bless you.

As one of Judge Mack's two clerks she hired upon ascending the bench in 1975, and as one who kept in touch with her over the years, I am truly and deeply saddened by her death. What I learned at her feet is inestimable. Losing Judge Mack is truly the loss of a national treasure. I knew she was the first black woman appointed to the court under DC's new home rule law, but until now I had no idea she was the first African American female to be appointed to a court of last resort. She was...

Julia is a leading woman in America. I hope the wonderful memories she created with you, her loved ones, will comfort you now and in the coming future. I admired here greatly and feel so honored to have known her. Sincerely, Marsha Teems Williams4

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
