Not sure what to say?

That man was a Saint....I had a spinal tumor and suffered paralysis on my left side.....I had a 80% chance of being paralyzed after surgery... I had zero paralysis after surgery and 22 yrs later, im now 76 and have no complications at all....Dr Hoff was a Great Man and a Wonderful Surgeon..... R.I.P. Dr Hoff.....

Thinking of Dr. Hoff today. Twenty-five years ago he performed the surgery that gave me back the ability to walk. He permanently changed the course of my life for the better. I chose to pay that act forward and spent the next twenty years working in medical research. So sad to think his life was cut short so soon, but his good work continues on even now so many years later. I hope knowing how great his impact was on this world gives comfort to his family, he was a wonderful man.

We will always remember Dr. Hoff and his kindness. 17 years ago Dr. Hoff removed a menningioma from my brain. His gentle nature and professionalism made me feel confident. Over the years, my husband and I looked forward to seeing Dr. Hoff for my check-ups. During one of our last visits, he reflected on how many years it had been since the initial surgery. We will miss him tremendously. My heart goes out to the family--how blessed you all were to have him for a husband/father.

Our thoughts are with you at this time. So sorry we cannot be with you today at the service. The neurosurgery department at the U was kind of our family. We appreciated Dr Hoff's kind gentle graciousness. He followed in the footsteps of some fine human beings with much grace.

Dr. Julian Hoff will be missed by me because he helped through two back surgeries he knew I was scared of. His joking with me relaxed me many times. But I will miss our discussions about the science of the brain that we did after my appointment was through. He made me feel important, like I was his only patient and I will miss his kindly advise. He was the best doctor I ever had.

I am saddened by our loss of a great human being. Buz had a busy and productive life. He was a great teacher. He encouraged his students to excel, and was not threatened by their talent or defensive about their challenges of the status quo. He taught by example, and was a great role model both as a neurosurgeon, as father and husband, and as an American. I was a privileged to have had him as a mentor and advisor. I want to express my deepest sympathy to Diane and his family.

I first met Buz 30 years ago when I was a resident and was assigned to show him around our hospital when he was a candidate for chairman of our program. He eventually chose the job at Michigan but he always remembered me and treated me kindly. I got to know him very well when I worked with him on the annual meeting the year that he was president of the AANS. He was the rare man that was able to blend his professional life and personal life, being a successful surgeon and husband, scientist...

Dr Hoff, Was in the right profession...He was a man of compassion - He removed a schwannoma tumor from my spine (lamenectomy) without any complications..I think he was an Angel...Now he can rest in peace with God and His Angels... I will never forget You Dr Hoff..

My late father, Dr. Manard Pont, knew Buz quite well and thought the world of him. Fellow Michiganders, fellow neurosurgeons. My family sends good wishes and condolences to Dr. Hoff's family.
