Sacramento, California - Hagan, Julianna "Judy" (nee McGrath) of Sacramento died peacefully in her home on September 13, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born in New York City on February 15, 1938 to Irish immigrants Thomas and Bridget McGrath. Preceded in death by husband, Benjamin Jr., siblings, Margaret, Nora, Thomas, & Theresa. Survived by siblings, Kathleen & John. Loving mother to Benjamin III (Emily), Norah Sheren, & Daniel (Joanna). Proud grandmother to Spencer, Nathan, Benny, Jake, & Tommy. After 15 yrs. of parochial school education, she graduated from St. Vincent's School of Nursing in 1958. She ventured to the west coast (SF) with nursing school friends and CA became home. Her nursing career spanned several hospitals in San Francisco and after moving to Sacramento she worked at all 3 Mercy Hospitals & retired in 2003. She believed that a career in nursing was her calling, guided by a guardian angel. Friends are welcome to the funeral mass is Friday, September 26, 2025 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 1040 39th Street, Sacramento, CA 95816.

To Norah, Benji, and Dan; so sorry to hear you lost your mother. Judy was a force in our neighborhood, always frank, forthright, and with that wonderful New York sense of humor. For us new mothers, she had the good sense and positive attitude that kept us grounded. I am grateful for her influence in my life.

Hagan children, So sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. I first met her in the baby sitting coop, and she had great stories to tell about her kids. We later worked together at Mercy General and I aspired to be as great an R.N. as she was. She was awesome and I learned so much from her. May she rest in peace.
