Julie Milliken Obituary

Julie Danner Milliken, 75, passed peacefully on January 16, 2022 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. Julie was born in New Orleans to the late Daniel Danner and Carolyn Davidson Danner. She graduated from Warren Easton High School in 1964 and worked as a secretary, then later as a realtor until the time of her retirement. She is survived by her adoring husband Tom Milliken; children Karen LeBlanc (Vinny) and Carl Edward Clevenger (Patti); step-children Michael Milliken (Monica), Megan Biven (Ricky), and Shannon Sipher (Evan). Will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren Peyton LeBlanc (Alexis) and Kae Clevenger; step-grandchildren Eliska Milliken, Felix Milliken, and Calvin Biven. Loved by her two sisters Carolyn Lastrapes (Henry) and Jane Smitchger (Jack). Also missed by her devoted companion Wesley. Julie was a beautiful soul who touched the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure to know her. Her generosity and selflessness were felt by many and she had a gift for making others feel special. She was an avid reader throughout her life and was known for her personal writing talent as well. Through sharing her own poems and providing her thoughts on the art of her peers, she became a beloved member of the online poetry community. Her strength and grace became even more apparent through her battle with chronic illness, and she fought hard to be here for as many milestones in the lives of her loved ones as she could. She taught us how to find joy during even the most difficult of times, and memories filled with her infectious laughter will remain with us forever. A visitation service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. The visitation service will begin at 11:00am until 3:00pm. All who loved her are welcome to come. Burial will be private and held at a later date. The family invites you to share fond memories and condolences online at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.

Julie, my beautiful friend, I miss you so much and I am so grateful for our time together. We talked nearly everyday about nature, spirituality, music, art, poetry, movies. We laughed too, oh how we laughed till our sides were bursting. Julie had such love, empathy and compassion for everyone she met and was a great supporter of the arts. She adored her family and friends and I will always remember her. My sincere condolences to her husband and family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers

I will always cherish these images :
Of a silent heroine with a pretty smile,
Small talk during slow walks,
Beautiful journeys with family and friends,
Daffodils in spring and snowflakes in winter,
The indelible memories you created,
For others to remember upon your passing.

It takes a few interactions to know someone special and Julie stood out as someone dearly dearly special to my heart. Your genuine kindness, love and large hearted way of supporting people will never be forgotten. I am honoured to have shared a small part of your life and connected and bonded some over music and cats. I will never forget your words/ blessings to me often given to me in my own language. I will miss you and wait till we meet on the other side again. Love and prayers to you sweet angel
