Relatives and friends may gather at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 W. MacPhail Rd., Bel Air, MD 21014 on Thursday 3-5 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at St. Mark's Church (Fallston), on Friday at 12 PM. Interment Highview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation of Maryland, 200 E. Joppa Rd., Suite 407, Towson, MD 21286. www.schimunekfuneralhomes.com

I just learned of the news of Julie's passing. I knew Julie (and Will) in college. She was a real nice person, very pleasant, and always had something nice to say. I will miss her. My deepest condolenses to the Wilcox family. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.

I just found out today, Julie. Ive thought about you so often these past 3 years and was always hoping you were doing well and I can see that you were, You were always smiling, positive and strong. Such an amazing example for breast cacer patients fighting for there lives, a true hero. I worked with you for only short time but, knew that you were such a loving special human being. I loved painting for you and knowing you. You made an impression on so many lives. I thought so much of you, I know your in a better place than all of us and you deserve it. I remember, while going through a hard time in college, Julie being the one who took notice, and then, took the time and initiative to talk and show me the light in the situation. I imagine she helped may others find their way through some rough spots. She was sensitive, intuitive, and filled with sincerity. Her smile and energy were infectious. A beautiful beautiful person.

We are somewhat comforted that every time we close our eyes and think of Julie, her beautiful, smiling face and infectious laugh fill our thoughts without fail. As difficult as it is to lose her, she will never be forgotten and all of us who know her are better people for it who have witnessed the art of kindness, selflessness, joyfulness, perseverance, and purpose. Tears of sadness overwhelmed me this morning as I grieved the loss of Julie, a compassionate mother, a devoted wife, a best friend, an angel to everyone she met. Julie was one of my closest friends since Fallston HS and the Wilcox family has always been a true blessing to me. My friendship with Julie taught me how to smile, laugh and cherish every moment. Julie was always a welcomed guest at our frequently crowded and chaotic household during my children's teen years. She wore her engaging and beautiful smile, that brought out the best in everyone, including "teenagers'. She truly knew the definition of friendship and love. Julie was an all star in every role she was in--mother wife daughter and especially in the survivor role-- she handled this role that she never asked for with more grace than anyone I have ever seen. Her warmness was contagious along with her smile. She will be greatly missed and many prayers go out to the family and all she has touched.

Julie I will never forget your warm hugs and beautiful smile. You were always so positive and pleasent sometimes I would forget how sick you were. Julie was the kind of young lady all mothers and fathers desire for their sons. Loving, happy, always smiling and remarkable. The Wilcox's soon found that out. Julie left them with a love too bountiful to put into words.

It is shocking to think of a world without Julie in it. Somehow I just kept hoping that in the end she would make a recovery and go back to her old bubbly and smiley self. I cannot think of the right words to accurately describe what a great friend Julie was. When you were with her, she just made you feel a little bit happier. She took care of everyone she met. We will really miss her.

Julie was my partner for sailing class at St. Mary's. We had a blast trying to outrun other boats, going way too fast for our meager sailing skills and flipping our boat way too often. A really sweet, fun girl; always smiling. My condolences to Will and the rest of your family.

Julie was one of the first people to extend her hand in friendship to me when I came to this country from Africa. She was so sweet and loving, and I loved her dearly. Spending a full day with her last summer was one of the highlights of my year, and I will miss her more than words can say. My heart goes out to her family at this time.

I remember Julie from my first Race for the Cure. I had just been diagnosed and I was still trying to recover from by bilateral mastectomy and had many complications from it, I was in a wheelchair . I was sitting in my wheelchair listening to her give her speech and remember saying she has Stage 4 breast cancer! She looked so wonderful,was so positive and soo strong. She really gave hope,courage and strength new meaning to me. Then I joined a wonderful support BCAUSE. My very first meeting I seen that same strong wonderful person. the face of hope I had seen at the Relay for Life.She was always so kind and was always their for others despite her own illness and struggles. Julie you are a true angel. I am sincere when I say this you were my strength, from the day I met you at the Race for the Cure. Lots of love to you.
