June Szypula Obituary
East Lansing
Formerly of Philadelphia, PA
June Szypula was born on November 9, 1927 in Chambersburg, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mina Spahr and passed away on March 2, 2016 at the age of 88.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 wonderful years, George Szypula. June is survived by her four children Cheryl Bailey, George M. Szypula, Carl Szypula and Sue Swensen; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She was a dedicated Physical Education teacher and outstanding Women's Gymnastics coach for East Lansing Public Schools. She led her athletes to 216 wins over the years, including two state championships, four regional championships, and seven conference championships. June has touched many lives with her dedication and overall kindness.
Following cremation, a memorial service and reception will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the University Lutheran Church, 1020 S. Harrison Rd, East Lansing, with Pastor Fred Fritz officiating. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel.
