Karen Ferguson Obituary

Karen Ferguson

May 16, 1947 - March 7, 2026

Karen Ferguson, 78, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born May 16, 1947 in Pomona, Calif., to Richard and Romola Bradford. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

In her early childhood the family moved to Maryland, where she would meet her future husband. In 1969 she met Brad Ferguson, the love of her life, and husband of 56 years. They moved to Lincoln in 1970 and raised their family there. Karen had a strong faith, a great love for children, and animals. She worked at the UNL baseball office and football office for three years, but her passion was working with kids. She then became an in-home daycare provider for most of her adult years and was loved by her daycare kids.

She enjoyed working in her flower garden, fishing, camping, volunteering at the Church youth programs, and spending time at home with her family and pets.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Romola; and her son, Brett Ferguson; six dogs, two cats, and a ferret.

She is survived by her husband Brad Ferguson; daughter, Angie Moench (Don); brother, Craig Bradford (Rosemary); daughter-in-law, Jolynn Ferguson; granddaughters, Maddax Moench and Taylor Simmerman; sister-in-law, Lana Carter; many wonderful nieces; and her loyal dog, Jake.

There will be an Open House, Celebration of life, on March 11th, 2026 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the family home. Drinks and light refreshments provided.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Capital Humane Society.
