Karen Worthy

My husband (Gary whom passed away March 2023) and myself became friends with Walt and Karen around 1979. We were neighbors , however Gary knew Walt before. The four of us shared many meals ,laughs and ideas. When we visited them in Florida in 1994, we went fishing on the ocean. Gary caught a beracuda, with the help of Walt and his boat assistant. I was so sad to hear that Karen passed. I loved hearing from her in my customer service role at WTB. She was always so wonderful to work with. She exuded so much kindness and patience. She was one of my favorites to hear from. My condolences go out to her husband and family.

My son, Scott Doughton, was in Karen´s first class at Balboa. Then his two sisters were also. She always spoke and was a joy to visit with.

Then Mrs. Powell was my first-grade teacher @ Balboa. I always remembered her smile. Years later, I ran into then Mrs. Worthy. I walked up to her and said I bet you don't remember me and she surprised me with knowing exactly who I was some 40+yrs later. Truly an inspiring lady who touched many lives, including a shy, 6yr old little girl.
