A true friend to everyone who knew him

I am saddened to hear of his passing. Even though it has been some time since it happened, I just heard the news. He was a great teacher and minister. Many times I still think of everything he taught during confirmation class. He was very much a part of my life from being my childhood minister, to praying for my premature baby, to baptising three of my children. I am grateful for having known him and his wonderful family. Prayers to Chris, who always treated me with kindness, and to Dottie. I...

I still remember fondly my visit to Earlham Seminary, renewing my friendship with the upper classman of whom I thought so much. I remember his dating days with Dottie and his dealing with so many feelings, all of which, brought him to the joyful arrival of David Paul. I remember his almost-dancing embraces with the infant, smiling as only Karl could do, singing a made-up ditty, the words of which were simply "David Paul is ten feet tall!" My name is Deborah Ehr. I saw Karl in SPI WEEKS BEFORE HE DIED WHILE WATCHING A PACKERS GAME AS GUESTS OF THEIR DEAR FRIENDS THE DeBeleks. I KNEW WITHOUT HIM SAYING A WORD WHEN HE OPENED THEIR DOOR HE HAD TO BE ONE OF THE KINDEST MEN ON PLANET EARTH. YOU SEE I HAD JUST GOTTEN TO SPI MYSELF WANTED TO SAY HI TO JOE

Karl was a wonderful man, truly touched by the hand of God, and we are all better people having been around him. Such a tremendous loss for Dottie, the family, and all the families and individuals whose lives he touched in so many ways.
We will miss you, dear friend, but realize you are in a better place.
God bless,
Marks family

Karl was a wonderfully warm preacher, and a fan of good music in the church. He and Dottie were most kind to me when I served as occasional organist at North Shore Congregational Church.

Dear Dottie and Family,
Words cannot express my sadness when I heard that Karl had passed away.
Please accept my sincere condolences to you and your family. I always loved our travels together and missed you both greatly.
I loved Karl and you and our fun times together.
Please know that I'm thinking of you and your family.
Love to all, Merle

Dottie I am so sorry for your, and your families great loss. I was horrified to hear of it from my parents. Karl was a part of almost all of my life, and Christmas, especially, will never be the same without him. Love to you and your family. I am so sorry, we lost such a great man.

Sincerely,
Kate Holmes
