Katrina Rhoads

1922 - 2017

Katrina Avyrilla (Burdine) Rhoads was born April 11, 1922, in the small rural Texas town of Quail, Texas where she learned the struggle of dry land farming and ranching. She also learned the value of staying connected to family and maintained close relationships with her 24 Aunts and Uncles, 59 first cousins, her grandparents and her parents, two brothers and a sister. She became the one who maintained those connections throughout her more than 95 years. She died June 1, 2017, surrounded by all her children and other family. Katye and Dusty (Issac Eldridge Rhoads) met during the early days of WWII while Dusty was training to become a Glider Pilot. She and her sister married buddies and the two couples and their children stayed close for all the years of their lives. Katye's legacy of faith is powerful. Her solid and consistent faith and trust in the Lord has carried though some difficult times and hard situations. But her plan for any memorial service is so typical of how Katye lived her life. She wants her favorite hymn sung and the gospel preached. Her hope is that someone new will believe in Jesus. Viewing will be Monday, June 5, 4pm to 8 pm, at Mount Vernon Mortuary, located 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. Services will be Tuesday at 4pm, at First Baptist Church, 2324 L Street, Sacramento, CA 95816, reception following. Interment will be Wednesday, June 6, Sierra View Cemetery, 4900 Olive Ave., Olivehurst, CA 95961 at 10:00am. For questions contact 808-895-9955. Katye is survived by four children Jerry (Jerral), Michael, Trish (Patricia), and Jonette. She has 13 grandchildren both biological and adopted, 22 great-grand-children and one great-great- grandchild. Whether she was Mom, "my granny" or GG Katye, she is well loved by these many descendants as well as so many who enjoyed the fellowship of her home and the generosity of her love.
