Kenneth DeVeau Obituary
Ken attended the University of Pennsylvania and later earned a master's degree in Mathematics from Ohio University, where he met his wife, Christine Allison DeVeau. They married in 1972 and spent a decade living abroad in Colombia, Guatemala, and Chile, where their first child, Vanessa, was born. Their time overseas deeply shaped their family values and approach to parenting.
Ken was a devoted husband and father, raising three children, Vanessa, Camila, and Zach with Christine in Sarasota, Florida. He cherished time with his grandchildren: Reagan, Daniel, Kai, Dax, Nash, Barrett, and Finley. He was a talented musician, playing guitar and harmonica, and wrote songs for church events and family celebrations, including the first dance at his son's wedding.
His creativity extended to the stage, where he directed and choreographed children's musicals for over a decade through a Christian theater workshop. Ken also coached youth soccer, leading his U13 Sarasota Storm team to a Florida State Cup championship.
Ken was known for his warmth and dedication to his family. He is survived by his wife Christine; children Vanessa, Camila, and Zach; their spouses Christopher Bachle, Steven Biter, and Katie Sherron; grandchildren; brother Ronald DeVeau; sister-in-law Cathy Doyle; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Burton and Lois DeVeau. Ken's legacy lives on in the lives he touched through his music, mentorship, and unwavering love for his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 3:00 PM at the National Cremation & Burial Society, 2990 Bee Ridge Rd., Sarasota, FL 34239. Kenneth DeVeau
