Kenneth Lee Gilliam entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Chippenham Medical Center.


He was a giving dad, devoted son, loving brother, kind and sincere uncle, helpful nephew and friend. Kenneth was born on October 31, 1960, to the late Montel Gilliam Rhodes and the late Lawrence Gilliam (Chippie). He attended and graduated from Dinwiddie High school. He worked at Southside Virginia Training Center, Southside Regional Hospital, and Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home. 


He was preceded in death by his brother Alphonso Gilliam, his sister Tammy Gilliam, uncles Floyd (Maybelle) and Recador Wallace. Kenneth leaves to cherish his memories of his son Kenneth Lee Jr of Richmond. His brothers, Toney Gilliam (Diane) of Dewitt, VA, Rickey Gilliam (Deloris) of Rawlings, VA, and Rodney Gilliam (Glenda) of Rawlings, VA


He leaves behind 10 nieces and nephews: Francois, Toney, Tinisha, Rikisha, Alexandria, Chance, Rickey Jr., and Yeshua Gilliam, Tomeka Smith and Marcus Robb. Eleven great-nieces and nephews: Kamonte, T’ Asia, Payton, Karduis and Ja’Corion Gilliam, Tyheem Drumgoole, Zell Robinson, Terelle Smith and Riyen, Royal and Halo Robb; three aunts: Gertude Winfield and Naomi Coleman (James), Rev. Wanda W. Tucker (Charles) and one uncle, Paul Wallace. He also leaves behind many cousins and devoted friends: Garrick Wallace, Jeffrey and Jerry Crittendon, Donnie Jones Sr, Donnie Jones Jr, Sadie Gholson, Deborah Dickinson (Carl), Edward Batts, Nook (Ernestine), and Noonie.


His homegoing service will be held on Saturday, March 14th at 3:00 PM at Big Bethel Baptist Church, 11010 MD Ragsdale St., McKenney, VA with Apostle Sean Miles, eulogizing.  Burial will follow at Eleven Oaks Baptist Church, Dewitt, VA.  Public viewing will be from 12-8 pm, Friday, March 13, 2020, at the McKenney Chapel.
