Kenneth Laffoon Obituary

Kenneth Jean Laffoon Passed away April 5, 2012 from cancer. He was born in Robinson, Ill. to Ida Sylvia Crail and Kenneth David Laffoon on April 19, 1925. He served in the 8th Army Air Corp during WWII in England. He participated in 35 bombing missions over Europe in a B17. After graduating from Eastern Ill University with degrees in Business Administration and Accounting he worked for Exxon-Mobil Corp., became an auditor and served in five states of the US and four foreign countries, Tripoli, Libya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Australia and Singapore. After 35 accredited years service, he retired to Tucson in 1982. He married Veda Roberts on August 31, 1947. He is survived by his wife, a son, Kyle Jean Laffoon and wife, Brenda of Houston, Texas. Also his sister, Ruth Miller (Don) of Tucson; brother-in-law, Rev. Paul Meeks of Roanoke, VA and numerous nephews and nieces and grand nieces and nephews. He served 20 years on a Board of Directors for Exxon-Mobil Anuitant Club in Arizona. He was a docent at the 390th Museum for 18 years where the B17 is located. He was a member of Saguaro Christian Church for 30 years. Services are Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Saguaro Christian Church, 8302 E. Broadway, Tucson 85710. Contributions may be made to Saguaro Christian Church, Ken Laffoon Memorial Fund or to 390th Museum (Memorial to Ken Laffoon) 6000 E. Valencia, Tucson, AZ 85756. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

Ken was a fellow veteran of the
B-17 era that I've known from the time he discovered our 390th Bomb Goup musuem.
As a docent Ken told the story as it really was and as a true gentelman. Ken, we'll all miss you.
