Kenneth Alan Parks

A truly great guy and Soldier.

Ruth and John and family,
Kathy and I were just made aware of Ken's passing this morning. We are shocked and saddened. Ken and I, of course had quite a run in our early days in the Ann Arbor area and that always brought our families closer. I will always remember Ken fondly and know that the good Lord has a solid man flanking him in heaven.

To my beloved Parks Family: It is just so terribly sad to hear of this form my Father this morning.
Ken had a very formative impact on me during my early years, as well as Tom's.
He taught us the very basics of trapping at that time, and along with that, a lifelong appreciation of what I can appreciate as person in my life Outdoors.
I feel blessed every day; that I can walk my path through life meeting a Ken or someone of such substance along my journey.

We at St Luke's, Ypsilanti, will miss Ken as well. He was always so caring and thoughtful. I mailed a poetry book to him, on his request, while he was on active duty.

I met Kenny in the summer of '77 in Ann Arbor; Elvis died, then China had a nuclear atmospheric detonation, and together we saw a world change and evolve, and we became friends, and I met a fellow and kindred free spirit for life. Ken, you will be missed. As one who has had Ken talk in schools with our Vietnam Veterans group, I could count on him to be there when he said he would. Thanks Ken. He was always there at our pig roast to be a major cleanup person. And Jane and I are hoping Shirley is able to move on with her life without Ken being there to take her everywhere he went. I am so sorry to hear of Ken's passing. I was his Prof. at EMU in Philosophy and I got to know him somewhat after he graduated. It makes me feel old when your "children" academically pass before you do--and Ken was one of the best. I'll miss him.
