Kermit Bell Obituary

Kermit Bell

Redding, CA

Kermit Bell, 97, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 in Redding, CA.

He leaves his son; Kenneth Bell and wife Deanna of Moreno Valley, CA; his son Robert Bell and wife Vickie of Redding, CA; his daughter Sheila Ward and husband Ron of Bella Vista, AR; his son Jerry Bell and wife Leslie of Redding, CA; and his son Stan Bell and wife Pernnie of Vernal, UT. He leaves four stepchildren; Gary Scriven of Redding, CA; Delbert Scriven and wife Kathie of Eureka, CA; Vernon Scriven and wife Annabelle of Moses Lake, WA; and Sharon Iwanick and husband Arnie of LaCenter, WA. Kermit leaves 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and numerous great, great grandchildren.

He also leave two brothers, W. G. Bell of Paris, AR. and Charles Bell of Norco, CA.

Kermit was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Rubelle Bell of Riverside, CA., his second wife of 20 years, Hazel Bell of Redding, CA. and daughter Camilla Torres of Sacramento, CA.

Kermit was born in Enola, AR. on Nov. 7, 1918, the son of Dewey and Doshua Bell. He was raised in AR. and MO. and went on to become a farmer and raised his six children. The family moved to SO. CA. in 1962 where Kermit worked for Kaiser Steel from where he retired.

He was an avid baseball player and fan. His favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals and when the children were growing up it was their past time to play ball or watch the Cardinals, which included trips to St. Louis to watch them play. Until the day he was hospitalized he could tell you the players' batting averages and who was who in the baseball world. When he moved to SO. CA. he formed a sandlot team, managed it and was a pinch hitter. A remark heard in the stands was, "What's this old man doing pinch hitting?" The old man hit a home run!

Kermit was also an avid bowler. He bowled in two leagues in Redding. He managed to bowl over 200 a few times while in his nineties. In 2016 he gave up bowling due to physical ailments. He really enjoyed his many friends at the bowling alley. However his family was his biggest passion! He will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 5, 11:00 AM at McDonalds' Chapel at 1275 Continental St. in Redding.

Viewing is 9:00-11:00 AM.

Psalms 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

He will forever be in my heart I love you k.bell please give my grandma Camilla Bell a Big kiss and huge for me and one day we will all be with each other again. I know you all are up there having a reunion and now watching down over the family. To the family sorry wasn't able to come but love you all and I will be with you all in the spirit.
