Last year, at age 18, I discovered The Muffs and my life was changed. I fell in love with every song in their discography and I learned more about the band and Kim Shattuck. When I learned of her passing, I was devastated. Her lyrics and amazing raw vocals captured everything I was feeling at the time in a way that no artist had done. I still very often listen to The Muffs and I'm so grateful to have found Kim when I needed her. Thank you Kim for your free-spirited nature and music that still...

Just found out that Kim died today, extremely sad day for me. She was born in the Long Beach area and raised in Orange County like me, forever connected. Love you!

i remember seeing her a few times at shows around OC back in the day, and she reminded me of peg bundy. but i wasn't a fan of their music until i found out she had died, and then i had listened to a few tracks from their recent album, and it was "lovely day boo hoo" that won me over. also really like "weird boy next door", an older tune, and the video makes me laugh. she was naturally funny and that's clear from her videos. another one where she's picking her nose which also just makes me...

I've been a fan of Kim and The Muffs since their first album came out in 1993. Two summers ago, they toured with a friend's band (1-800-BAND) and I was thrilled to get the chance to hear them perform again. I had no clue it would be my last chance.
Last summer, I tested my DNA through Ancestry.com. Among other things, I learned that one of my great, great, great grandmothers was named Abigail Shattuck. My very first thought was "I hope that means I'm related to Kim!"
She...

Kim was one of my biggest inspirations. Her passing is affecting me deeply, although I didn't know her personally. I wish I had gotten to.. Hopefully one day I'll finally meet her. For now, it's time to get this career of mine started. Thank you for showing me ladies can be the best punk rockers and contributing to my musical passion. I'm going to miss you very much, Kim.

I hope you are screaming in heaven! You will always be my favorite female singer. Be free of nasty ALS and keep rocking from cloud nine.
