Kimberly Schaaf Obituary

Kimberly Diane Schaaf

February 19, 1957 - September 1, 2025

Kimberly Diane (Clemens) Schaaf, 68 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away September 1, 2025, at her home.

Kimberly Diane Clemens was born February 19, 1957, to Lyle and Jeanne Clemens. She went to many schools in Nebraska, but spent the best years at Clay Center and Chappell, and finally settled in Kenesaw where a little hippie stole her heart. She and Ted Schaaf were married for more than 51 years, creating three beautiful children together: Jack, Janica, and Tom.

When Kim was a little girl, she drowned but was pulled out of the water and revived by her daddy at the last minute. She remembered hearing music and bells while she was under water. It was a happy place according to Kim, and she was not afraid. That childhood experience helped to develop in her a great faith and she helped guide others in their spiritual journeys throughout her life.

Kim held many jobs along the way, but was very proud of the work she did as a volunteer manager at the Scottsbluff Elks Club working alongside her daughter. After she left that job, she and Ted bought Interstate Sales in Scottsbluff, which she ran with her boys. She was amazing at customer service!

One of Kim's happy places was the lake, and she and her family hosted the annual Big Mac camping trip for most of her adult life. She made a list and checked it twice and made sure that all present had fun. "Don't tempt me with a good time!" was a favorite saying of Kim's.

Kim is survived by her husband Ted, sons Jack (Sarah) and Tom (Shade) of Scottsbluff, and daughter Janica (Mat) Mehling of Mitchell. She will be missed dearly by her grandchildren Hylas and Albert Mehling, and Emma, Will, and Theola Schaaf. She also leaves behind three sisters: Valerie (Mike) Isom of Allen, Carol Dawn Shaw of Nelson, Lisa (Kent) Hadenfeldt of Scottsbluff, and sister-in-law Kay (Dale) Sidders of Kenesaw along with many treasured family members and beautiful friends.

She was met in heaven by her mother and father, her stepmother Mary Ann Clemens, younger brother Kevin Clemens, in-laws Jack and Ila Bee Schaaf, brother-in-law Rodney Shaw, brother-in-law Patrick Schaaf, her great friends Tom Brown and Pam Fornander, and many special grandparents and relatives.
