Kleo Mohr Tonglet

1920 - 2023

On Sunday, June 4, Kleo Mohr Tonglet left this life for an eternal one at the age of 102. Born into 1920's New Orleans, she witnessed and took part in all the key moments of the last century, from the Great Depression to WWII, from television to space travel, and on to the Internet & cellphone. She successfully navigated this life with very little education and very little money. This lifelong New Orleanian always had a knack for achieving much with extremely little, and always did it with a smile. Over the course of her many years she worked at various iconic New Orleans' businesses from Baumer Foods'- Crystal, to Marino's Drugs, to a well-respected floral designer at McNamara's Lakeview Florist, while maintaining a lucrative side job of being a local expert in ceramics artistry. Concurrently, since the late 1930's, Kleo raised two wonderful, devoted daughters*(Mary & Bobbie) and then continued this talent by being highly involved in the development of her four grandsons. After changing residence around the city for many years she eventually settled into her most famous residence, the house on Banks St. There, in the heart of Mid-City, she played host to many major functions, whether it was for family, friends, and even the occasional hooligan. While all this was going on, she was one of the best damn cooks in all of NOLA producing dishes that anyone, or any renowned New Orleans' restaurant would long to have served. As the years past, she had to leave her beloved Bank St. residence and settle into loved ones' homes in places like Lakeview, Metairie, & Kenner, until finally settling into the community at Metairie Health Care Center. Despite her years and associated health obstacles she persevered, making family & friends a priority, putting others first, as she felt the good Lord commanded. She was much beloved as a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and an adopted grandmother by countless others. Miss Kleo was THE example of a life well lived, and the closest thing to a Saint that those close to her ever witnessed. She is survived by her daughters Kleo Mary Pitcher (Husband – Charles Pitcher) and Bobbie Lou Zeringue (Husband: deceased – Howard Zeringue), as well as her four grandsons; Floyd Pitcher, Aaron Zeringue (Sandy), Robert Zeringue, & Harris Zeringue (Shelley). Additionally, she will be missed by her five Great-Grandchildren: Kelly Zeringue, Emily Zeringue, Christian Zeringue, Catherine Zeringue, & Caroline Zeringue. Finally, she is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, family friends, and adopted family from the Metairie Healthcare community (Davida Prevost, Darlene Brooks & Kenneth Bennett). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 13th, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Friends may pay their respects from 10am – 12pm, with a noon Funeral Mass and burial to follow.
