LARRY SMITH Obituary

SMITH, Larry Earl Age 82, from Boca Raton, FL and Boston, MA, lived a life of magic. He passed away peacefully, leaving behind an incredible legacy. Born on July 11, 1942, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, to Harry and Gertrude Smith, Larry's life journey was defined by his commitment to family, service to his country, education and philanthropy. A gifted student-athlete, Larry earned a basketball scholarship to Suffolk University, where he earned a business degree in 1964. His time at Suffolk set the stage for his successful professional career and laid the foundation for his lifelong dedication to higher education. As a trustee at Suffolk University, Larry championed access to schooling and his efforts to establish scholarship programs in both the United States and Israel were emblematic of his belief in the power of education to transform lives. In 1970, Larry married Elaine Winiker, the love of his life. Together, they spent over five decades building a beautiful family and establishing successful businesses, A-Affordable and Nation Safe Drivers. Their enduring partnership was a source of strength and joy as they raised their three daughters, Karen, Rebecca and Stephanie, with the same values of kindness, responsibility and community that Larry held dear. Larry had a lifelong passion for both tennis and magic. If he wasn't serving up aces on the tennis courts, he was captivating those around him with his magic tricks and infectious humor. Larry's playful spirit always shone through his athleticism, his ability to bring smiles and laughter to friends and family and in everything he did. Larry was a patriot who served his country as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard. His support for America and the IDF reflected his deep commitment to defending freedom and fostering security for those in need. Through personal action or financial support, Larry remained dedicated to causes that uplifted others. Larry is survived by his three daughters: Karen Smith, Rebecca Jean Smith and Stephanie Boggs; his son-in-law, Jason Boggs; and his seven beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Marina, Kayla, Harley, Skylar, Carter and Bode. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael Smith and Ellen Smith. Larry's presence in the lives of his family was a constant source of love, guidance and light and his memory will continue to be cherished by all who knew him. A Funeral Service in Larry's honor will be held on Sunday, October 20, at 10 AM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon Street, BROOKLINE, MA, with Burial immediately following at Prospect Hill Cemetery, 74 Auburn Road, Millis, MA. Shiva will follow and details may be obtained from the family. In gratitude for the exceptional care he received, the family extends their thanks to the dedicated medical teams at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Lynn Cancer Institute, Florida Theranostics and Florida Spine. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Friends of the IDF, an organization close to Larry's heart. Larry's life was a testament to the values of compassion, generosity and service and his memory will live on in the many lives he touched.
