LAURA R. BOTH
On March 29, 2014, Laura Rebekah Rudin Both. Born on August 14, 1977, the beautiful daughter of Charles R. and Deborah R. Both; loving sister of Jonathan R. (Larissa) Both; niece of Judith Roscow, Stephen Oliphant, Rachelle and Richard Dattner; beloved cousin of Diana, Mark, Maddie, Eli and Samantha Terrill, Ben Dattner, David, Rachel, Amelia and Max Roscow, Laura Dattner and Jonathan and Katie Roscow and devoted friend to so many from GDS High School, Muhlenberg College, and the many other paths that her short life took her through. Laura died peacefully, following a long and hard fought struggle against cystic fibrosis, complications of chronic lung rejection and H1N1 influenza. She was pre-deceased by her adored grandparents Simon and Sola Both and Maurice and Ethel Rudin. Funeral services will take place at Adas Israel Congregation, 2850 Quebec Street NW on April 1, 2014 at 1 p.m., with burial to follow at Judean Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 16225 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney, Maryland. Following the funeral the family will receive visitors at their home with daily Shiva minyan at 7:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to "Project to Cure OB" (aimed at identifying the cause of chronic lung rejection) c/o Dr. Joseph M. Pilewski, Medical and Health Science Foundation UPMC, Forbes Tower, Suite 8084, 3600 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213,-3410 or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Metropolitan Washington D.C. Chapter, 6931 Arlington Road, Suite B, Bethesda, MD, 20814. Arrangements under Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, Inc., under Jewish Funeral Practices Committee of Greater Washington Contract.

Dear Charles and Deb and Jon, Our hearts go out to you. Although we knew Laura for such a short time, the memory of her afternoon relaxing pool-side in Cartagena, with you and her friends of such long duration, will stay with us as a moment and gift out of time. I truly don't think I've ever known a tougher or more graceful fighter than Laura. Or a brother whose eloquence brought home what made her so very special -- and him so exceptional.
I can only begin to imagine the collective pain of your sorrow, and hoping wonderful memories of a life so generously and richly lived bring you comfort and peace over time.
