Laurene Leynes Obituary

Laurene Lindsey Leynes Laurene Lindsey Leynes, 94, a retired keypunch supervisor who had worked with the Florida Department of Education and retired in 1970, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. EST Friday at Roselawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. EST Thursday at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Riggins Road (877-8191). Along with relatives and neighbors, her family moved to the "good lands" of Alachua County in 1918. After graduation from Archer High School, she married her high school sweetheart, B.C. Leynes. They lived in a number of Florida locations before moving to Tallahassee. One of her many talents included creating ceramic art objects of enduring quality. Mrs. Leynes was a charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a son, Bud Leynes (and wife Margie) of Richmond, Va.; her devoted and care-giving grandchildren from the Tallahassee area, Richard Malloy (and wife Tina), Barbara Kirkland (and husband Jay), Beverly Malloy, Jack Malloy (and wife Penny) and Chuck Malloy (and wife Dianne); other grandchildren in Virginia, Perry Jones and Matt Leynes, and grandson Andrew Leynes in New Jersey; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Lindsey and James Lindsey, both of Tifton, Ga.; and son-in-law Bill Lewis of Carrabelle. She was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, B.C. Leynes, and by her daughter, Lynette Lewis.
