Not sure what to say?

To Professor Elson´s family, I hope this finds its way to you as I am just learning of Dr. Elson´s passing. I was an 18 year old Anatomy student at CCSF in 1975 and Dr. Elson was not only my favorite professor but his inspirational teaching style and his Anatomy Coloring Book deeply influenced my career choice - health education. I´ve told many stories over the years about Dr. Elson´s teaching methods and promoted his book to anyone I met who considered themselves "anatomy geeks" like me - a...

I was a navy chief that was in HS85 from 1970 to 1976. It was a pleasure to serve under him and fly with all the Naval Reserve pilots in the Squadron. AWHC Douglas Racine

Cdr. Larry Elson was my squadron XO in HS-85 when I was on active duty at NAS Alameda. He was kind to me, although other officers thought I lacked 'military bearing'. I was appreciated for my technical abilities, and a few times Cdr. Elson intervened when 'bearing' became an issue with others, Cdr. Elson felt job proficiency over-rode starched 'dixie cup hats'. Currently living in SoCal, I was looking forward to get together with Cdr. Elson when a former squadron mate informed me of Cdr....

My memory of Larry was like a big brother, as he shared our home in Corpus Christi Texas when Larry was "out of cycle" in his advanced carrier pilot training due to an injury. My father, LTC Wm K Foster (USAF Ret.) and Larry became great pals, and Larry visited several times over the years. I have fond memories, and a collection of Elson books sent to my father by Larry as they were published. He was great, and will be missed by many.

My condolences to Larrys family. Fond memories of coffee group conversations all those years in Napa.

Doc Elson and I shared many memories and many talks together. Even though his intelligence level was over my head, we still communicated and understood each other. Both Larry and I lived in Monrovia at one time, and both of us loved our country and served in the U. S. Navy. We did a lot of fun things together and those are memories I will always have with me. I will also have Larry with me the rest of my days. I loved ya Doc and I always will. Keep an eye on me Doc from up there as you now...

I am so, so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. It hit me like a ton of bricks. Ellyn, you had reached out to me in April but I let time get away. I've been flooded with warm memories of this dynamic, enthusiastic, brilliant man. Larry had a pivotal impact on my career and my ability to focus in on raising my children, while working flex hours from home. His support was ahead of trends. I continue to be grateful for that opportunity. He taught me so much and to be around him was to be inspired....

I remember taking a class from Dr. Elson at CCSF as a prereq for nursing school. He knew my mother, and had dated one of her friends when they were all young and in college. He was a wonderful teacher. I found him to be quite brilliant, yet humble. You have my deepest condolences for his loss. He was wonderful.

Dear Ellyn, sad to hear about Larry. Sympathy and love to you and the family.
