Not sure what to say?

It's been about 30 years since I had Mr. Shears for Geometry and Algebra II and I still talk about him. He made us work hard to learn everything, but also made sure we understood those concepts inside and out. I was originally a math major before switching to ECE and loved how we had to learn. Condolences to his friends and family. And thank you, Mr. Shears, for helping me to continue to love math.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I met your family over 40 years ago, when I met his daughter Pat in about 5th grade, although since I moved around a lot we lost touch, but I still think of you all often and have very good memories of all of you. Your family was always so nice to me.

Mr. Shears was my geometry teacher at Southview. He was a tough teacher and I learned a lot. He cared very much for his students.

I am Larry's sister and I had not been home for sometime and I went home last year and had the most beautiful visit with Larry. This is a memory I will never forget and it was the last time I saw him. Rest in Peace Larry. I will surely miss you!

Did not know Mr. Shears but, I know his Granddaughter and ,found out from her about his passing. My prayers and condolences to the family for their loss. He sounded like he was an amazing person. Sincerely, Ron and Eileen Vraux

I attended Waite High School with Larry!! He was the creative editor of the school paper!! A very kind and caring person!! He had a keen passion for learning!! God Bless Him!!! Dr. John A Passante

I was one of his students at McCord Junior High and Sylvania Southview High School in the late 1970s/early 1980s. Mr. Shears was my favorite teacher! We kept in touch with handwritten letters during my college years. He was so dedicated to his students. My deepest sympathies to his family.

He was a wonderful teacher. He taught me 8th grade science and the important lesson that without the ozone layer we would all be "crispy fried ".

Mr. Shears was my Algebra II teacher in 1984. I remember him as a tough but fair teacher. His standards were high, and he was an encouraging force. I distinctly remember his perfectly polished black shoes, signature glasses, and weightlifter-size forearms and arms. I am sorry for your loss.
