April 8, 1929 - July 17, 2018
Lee D. Scruggs, 89, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on July 17, 2018. Lee was born on April 8, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Richard and Margaret Scruggs.
A retired Marine Corps veteran, Lee served in WWII, Korea, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and Vietnam. Lee worked at Chrysler, as an executive, until he retired. He was a private pilot, and was a member of the DAV, VFW, Masonic Lodge, and Shrine Temple. He was a Catholic.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet; his son, Lee David Scruggs Jr.; and eleven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his children, Cynthia Adam, Dianne Platt, and Kevin Scruggs; his grandchildren, Jennifer Babin, Eric Jenkins, Shawn Platt, Melissa Lasser, Aron Jenkins, Nicole Scruggs, and Ashley Flint; and his eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on July 24, 2018, at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, Florida, at 11AM. Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held on July 24, 2018, at 2PM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Casual clothing is suggested.
