Baker Funeral Home - Queensbury Obituary

Leon “Paul” Bouton of Queensbury. N.Y. passed away unexpectedly on Friday August 22, 2025.

Paul spent his life helping others and bringing laughter into the world. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. Paul spent the last 30 years as a Math professor at SUNY Adirondack where he touched the lives of many of the faculty, staff. And students there. Paul loved trains, and built a working HO model that reflected his love of nature. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles sports fan with an extensive collection of themed t-shirts and jerseys. Paul also had a huge smile, a great sense of humor, and a generous heart.

He is survived by his loving wife Lori, and 2 daughters -Mackenzie and Monika. Also. Terry, Chip and Danika Reynolds; Laura, Dana, Deanna, and Sebastian Rafferty; Pamela, Jake, Kenny, and Delilah Salisbury; Susan, Clay, and Johnathan Hamilton; and many other aunts, uncles, sisters in law, nephews and nieces. Paul was a loving son to the late Sylvia and William Bouton.

Paul was loved and respected by many people and will be deeply missed. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life party in honor of Paul on Sunday, September 28th. It is being held from 1-4 p. m. at the VFW post 6196 on 32 Luzerne Road in Queensbury, N.Y. All who knew him are welcome to come and say “Hi” or share some memories.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers you take the time to hug your loved ones and tell them how special they are to you. Our heartfelt thanks goes out the generosity and support of our family, friends, and co-workers during this difficult time. We would also like to thank the Baker Funeral Home in Queensbury for their care as well.

We love you to the moon and back, forever and ever and always Paul! You will be missed!

Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry for your loss and I am very sad to hear of Professor Boutons passing. I had him for math 2 semesters ago and I enjoyed his online class a lot. He made math relatable and easier to understand and I truly believe he is the reason I did well in his class. I have no doubt that he is now your guardian angel.

Dear Lori, Mackenzie, & Monika - we are so sorry for your loss and pain.
Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. We hope to help you celebrate Paul's life in a few weeks. Mary Caroline & Jerry

I’m so saddened to hear of Paul’s passing. My deepest condolences and prayers for Lori, Mackenzie and Monika.

What a huge loss for SUNY Adirondack and the greater community. Paul was a dedicated, superior educator and all around good person. He worked tirelessly for his family, too. Sharing an office with him these last few years, I saw him work hard with care for all in both the college and his family. He’ll be deeply missed. His family is in my thoughts and prayers.
