Leslie Acker Obituary

Leslie Clark Acker
12/03/1943 - 03/15/2026
Leslie "Les" Acker left this life on March 15, 2026. He was a beloved husband, Dad, friend, Grandad, golf buddy, neighbor and just a good decent person. He had become all of that which he had aspired to be.
Born on December 3, 1943, in Dallas, Texas to Leo and Lucille Acker, his family moved to Post, Texas where he spent all of his schooling years, graduating from Post High School in 1962, an athlete and class president He loved his little hometown and traveled to nearly all of the homecoming football games every year.
In 1970, he was a graduate of the University of Texas Law School in Austin, Tx where he and his wife, Beverly had two daughters, Lisa and Dawn Acker. Soon after receiving his license to practice law, the family moved to Midland, Texas where he served, initially, in the City Attorney's Office and later, from 1975 – 1980, he served as the Midland County Attorney.
Les and Jan Acker were married in 1986 and spent 40 mostly quiet and wonderful years together. Many of those years were lived in Post, Texas, where Les had taken the honor of being asked to serve as the Garza County Attorney. He worked in the Courthouse for 3 terms, from 1996 – 2008, in the small, Texas town that he loved so much, with his beloved Jan by his side. After retiring, they moved to San Angelo, Tx in 2010, to be closer to each of their children and grandchildren.
Les was a thoughtful family man. He loved his daughters and coached Girls Softball for 12 years, just to have that time to spend with them. He juggled the groceries, made funny faces and told corny dad-jokes just to hear them laugh, or to see them rolling their eyes. He was a good Dad and his heart was broken at the loss of his youngest daughter, Dawn, in 2017.
He is survived by his dear wife, Jan Acker, daughter Lisa Merrill Keenan (Rick) of Thrall, Tx, brother Lex Acker of Austin, daughter Barbara Lee (Johnny) of Midland, granddaughter Amy Rhodes (Chase), grandson Adam Merrill, granddaughters Jordan Sewell (Michael) , Lacie Bravo (Mario), grandson Carson Lee and eight Great Grandchildren.
