To the Becker family, my deepest sympathies to the entire family. Lew was a gem, pure and simple. I spent hours talking to him about rare books and vintage sheet music, while passing the time at Villanova Law School. We would talk constantly about our EBay finds, and more than anything, I will miss Lew's friendship and mentoring. For years, I was honored to guest lecture for Lew's family law course at VLS. And I enjoyed sitting in his office, among his law reviews and journals, crammed...

Lewis was a kind, thoughtful man . . . a good teacher . . . and valuable contributor to family law, ethics, and life. I enjoyed working with him on multiple ABA Family Law Section projects. I will miss him. My condolences. . . .

Marilyn--So sad to see this news. Carol and I spent many hours in Lew's compnay at the Open Circle, sharing music and laughs. Our sympathies to you and your family.

It was always a pleasure seeing Lew and Marilyn at ABA Family Law Section conferences.

Lew was an outstanding person and will be missed by many.

To the Becker family, friends, and colleagues:

I'm so sorry for your loss. I am a former Villanova Law student of Professor Becker's, and I'm forever grateful for how his class and teaching led me to my future career path.

As a homesick 1L, I took a summer internship at the Office of the Child Advocate in my home state, dealing with abused and neglected children. The following year, I took Professor Becker's family law class on a lark and I loved it. I enjoyed his teaching...

I had the great privilege of Lew's friendship through the ABA , and then got to see him in the classroom at Villanova when he invited me to serve as a guest lecturer. The luxury of discussing with him the law, his passion for the protection of human rights and the rule of law will remain among my fondest memories. With deep condolence for your loss.

My sympathy. I worked with Lew for over twenty years in the ABA Family Law Section. He was a true scholar and gentleman. Whenever I needed something for the Quarterly, ranging from providing a little information, to answering an ethical question, to writing a full article, Lew came through - dependable, intelligent, articulate -- and a wry smile. Will miss him.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Thinking of you with sadness.
