Lillian S. Walter, 100, a resident of the Highlands at Wyomissing, formerly of Blandon and Fleetwood, died early Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, in Reading Hospital.
Born in Fleetwood, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Elda (Schaeffer) Schlegel.

It was with sadness that I learned of Lillian's death. What a special person she was! She was a model kindergarten teacher who was loved by all her students and parents alike. When I first began teaching at Fleetwood Elementary many years ago, she was a mentor ready to help me .... ready to share her words of wisdom ....and her years of experience. I loved my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Walters! I was in the first kindergarten class, which met at the church on Washington until the "new" elementary school on Vine St. was finished. God has blessed her and all who knew her. Such a gracious and lovely lady.
