Linda Peeples Obituary

SAN ANGELO Linda Lyons "Linney" Peeples, 71, loving wife and mother, died of brain cancer Thursday, March 15, 2012, at her home in San Angelo, Texas. A native of San Angelo, she was born on Dec. 18, 1940, to Hunter and Chlotielde Brister Lyons. She attended San Angelo High School and graduated in 1958. She married Michael Peeples in June 1960, and after Michael graduated from college and a tour of duty in the military, they settled in Abilene, Texas, where they raised two children, Quinton and Rebekah. After the children were grown and exploring their dreams, Linney and Mike embarked on a grand adventure, opening an art gallery in Albuquerque, N.M. After several years of roaming the mesas and mountains, the couple returned to their roots in San Angelo. Linney is remembered for her loving laugh, kind heart and warm words to all who needed them. Active in the Disciples of Christ Church, as a deacon and elder, she displayed the dignity and courage of her convictions throughout her life. Linda loved her church family, Christmas, her role as a stay-at-home mom and her husband. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by husband Michael; son Quinton and his wife, Trish; grandchildren Georgia and Mason of Los Angeles; daughter Rebekah of San Angelo; her sister, Virginia Jenkins, of Georgetown, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012, at Community Hills Christian Church, 3309 Knickerbocker Road, San Angelo, Texas. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Community Hills Christian Church or Hospice of San Angelo. Family and friends may sign the online register book at johnsons-funeralhome.com.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Linda Peeples has been my friend since we were young mothers with preschool children. Linda loved her family. She was so proud of Quinton and Rebekah and their accomplishments. She loved being a mother-in-law and grandmother, and of course Michael is the love of her life. Though we were separated by distance and time, Linda has remained my friend; her wisdom and spirituality enriched my life for which I will remain forever grateful. My heart is heavy with sadness, as I send my love to her family and friends. God bless all of you, Carolyn Greenleaf

Linney was simply a good, kind, caring, sweet person who was taken from us far too soon. She will indeed be missed by those of us fortunate enough to have known her.

Blessings to her family.
