Not sure what to say?

I first met Rev. Wake around 1960. He was special because all the ministers were very old at that time. He created paths that still impact me today. Thank you!!

Rev. Wake taught me the meaning of Christianity--that it is not just going to church on Sundays or being able to recite Bible verse, but is caring and compassion for the world as well as those close to us.
He and Marian inspired our family through during his time at Pine Methodist and continued to inspire the world in his work at Glide. He helped my family through the loss of my older brother, Francis in 1970 and graciously came out of retirement to marry my husbands Charles and me nearly...

Rev.Lloyd Wake has enriched my life since he introduced me and other young people to join Pine Methodist Church on Pine Street
after WWII since we were all separated from a Church which had Japanese Americans. From that time, we became mmbers and friends of the Pine Family and were fortunate to also have Marion Wake and the children aspart of the Pine circle.

Our sincere condolences to the Marion Wake family for the loss but to celebrate his life for which he gave so much to so...

I had the honor of serving with Lloyd on the ALC Board, and always appreciated his leadership, warm smile, and calm demeanor. He was an early supporter of the Caucus Classic, and it was great to see him in that context after my board term was over. He set such a wonderful example of how to promote social justice and humanity, simply by being himself. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to Marion and his family.

Rev. Lloyd Wake was a great and peaceful soul. He was quietly intelligent, supportive and open-minded. He was active in the national United Methodist Asian community and he also helped us out with our volatile church closing and merger. Our family actually first came in contact with him when we lived in Wisconsin and Illinois and then I worked directly with him in SF. It was such a pleasure knowing him and meeting his wife Marion. We love you both. Lloyd Wake will be greatly missed but...

Reverend Lloyd Wake helped me on my journey to self acceptance as a queer Christian. His playful energy, steadfast faith, and desire for social change reformed my notions of Christianity. He volunteered for many social justice organizations including Network on Religion and Justice at SF Pride. He offered blessings to everyone. It was the first time I had received a blessing of affirmation for being queer from a pastor. It healed my broken heart. Thank you Lloyd for all the years you've given...

Rest in peace Lloyd. You were one of the pillars of the Bay Area Okinawa Peace Network who inspired us, steadied us, and supported us in all the ways you did. With wisdom, caring, kindness--always!

Deepest condolences to Marion Wake and the entire family.

Will miss your love for humankind. You were a hopeful beacon in the world.

Lloyd and Marion: earliest supporters of 'Ohana Cultural Center

Am so honored that I was able to work with Lloyd on many justice issues through PACTS! He and Marion also helped us start the 'Ohana Cultural Center' in North Oakland.
