Loretta Gendron Vanasse Fletcher, 83, formerly of Groton, passed away on Friday evening, March 14, 2008 at Kindred Crossing, East in New London.
She was born in Lewiston, Maine on Dec. 30, 1924, the daughter of Philip and Albertine Ouillette Gendron.
Her husband Norman Vanasse passed away on May 12, 1970. She married Bernard Fletcher who passed away on Dec. 17, 2005.
Loretta was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Groton. She was a member of the Rosary Society, the Daughters of Isabella and had served on the Sacred Heart School Guild.
She is survived by two sons, David N. Vanasse and his wife Donna of Mystic, and Norman A. Vanasse Jr. and his wife Beth Ann of Stonington; a daughter, Debra Washburn and her husband Russell of Westerly; a brother, Richard Gendron of New Hampshire; a sister Muriel LePage of New Jersey; and 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Georgette Pierce.
The funeral will assemble on Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. at the Byles Groton Memorial Home and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church at 2 p.m. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New London. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations in her memory may be directed to Beacon Hospice, 12 Roosevelt Ave., Mystic, CT. 06355.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Beacon Hospice and Kindred Crossing for the care given to Loretta.
