Louis "Louie" Collura, Jr. of Marrero, LA passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at the age of 78. He was born on December 25, 1943, in New Orleans, LA where he grew up, and graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School in 1963. He worked as Assistant Director for materials management at Tulane Medical Center, where his colleagues affectionately referred to him as "the answer man" because if you needed an answer to a question no one else knew, Louie knew the answer. Louie's favorite things in life were a good, home-cooked meal, spending precious time with his family, and taking a good, old-fashioned afternoon nap. He loved watching football with his wife at home, and if the Saints were losing his wife would trick him into eating some chocolate to spur on his afternoon nap, because she said whenever he fell asleep the Saints would start winning again. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Collura, Sr. and Philippina Santina Collura, and his sisters, Elizabeth "Beth" Toombs (the late Byron),and Maria Tujague (Rodney). He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 54 years, Linda Stephens Collura, his one and only darling daughter, Gianna Collura, his 7 loving grandchildren, Jourdan, Camrynn, Ashlynn, Jasmynn, Sienna, Cordero, Blayze, and his 3 precious great-grandchildren, Milana, Armani, and Alexa; as well as his sister Margaret "Peggy" Indest (the late Carlos) and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank the medical staff at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank Campus in Gretna, LA for the care and compassion they showed Louie in his final days. Louie loved a great meal, and his family will honor him with a Celebration of Life held on Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at New Orleans Ladies Ballroom, 1771 Stumpf Blvd, Gretna, LA 70056. Extended family, friends, and colleagues are all welcome to attend.
