Not sure what to say?

Mr. Kokonis was my math teacher in the very early 80s. He was ahead of his time! I never felt a whiff of sexism or judgment from him. I went on to obtain a PhD in a STEM field and I can say that his patient, careful teaching helped give me the skills and confidence to do this (along with other great teachers from TC at the time). I have followed the news stories about Mr. Kokonis in recent years and he continues to be an inspiration to me in my own career. His ~7000 students were lucky to...

Rest in Peace Louis I will always remember you for your kindness and brilliance and love of teaching . Your memory is a blessing.

Mr. Kokonis was my algebra teacher when Hammond was a high school in 1964. I so enjoyed his class, and he kept encouraging me to take more upper level math classes. After our 50th high school reunion in 2016, I wrote him a thank you note and told him about my career success. He wrote me back saying how proud he was that at times in my life I had been a "teacher." Thank you Mr. K for making algebra and trigonometry fun!!

Sincere condolences to the family and close friends of Mr. Kokonis. He was a treasure to the students of Hammond High School and Alexandria City High School. Though gone, he has left a lasting legacy to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Heartfelt condolences from Sophia (Voultsides) Woodroof and her son, Chad Woodroof. May Lou's memory be eternal.
