Luciano Menta Obituary
Luciano Menta, 89, of Newington, beloved husband for 48 years of Maria (Mancuso) Menta, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2017. Born in Cassaro, Sicily on September 23, 1927, he was the son of the late Michelangelo and Paola (Ganci) Menta. Luciano worked as a painter for many years at Gene Michaud Building Contractors. He was an avid gardener who was especially proud of his tomato plants. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Luciano will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Maria; his son, Michael Menta and wife Marianne of Middletown and his adored grandson, Massimo Menta. He is also survived by two brothers, Vincenzo Menta and wife Maria of Newington and Salvatore Menta and wife Lucy of West Hartford; sisters-in-law, Carmela Menta, Concetta Menta and Sara Menta, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Luigi, Giuseppe and Michele and his sister, Carmela (Lina) Menta. Funeral services will begin Friday (May 12) at 9:30 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Donations in Luciano's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Assocation, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite B, Southington, CT 06489.
