There's not a day that goes by that I don't miss Lou Dodson's wonderful smile and sense of humor. She always greeted her brother and me with a joke! It was such an honor being her sister-in-law for forty-seven memorable years. Rest in peace until we meet again.

Oh what we lost but what heaven gained. Mrs. Dodson was my third grade teacher and my favorite of all. I still think about all the fun I had in her class. I am 46 and still remember the words and sign language to the song she taught us about the moon. My oldest daughter, Katie, is named after the main character, Katie John, of a book she read to us. When I graduated from High School she mailed me a letter I wrote in her class about what I wanted to be when I grew up - a preacher. I wish I could have shared with her that for a short time I was that - a minister. Mrs. Dodson - Thank You for being part of my life. Thank You for answer your call to be a educator. Thank You for blessing me. Thank You.

Lou,
You were God's Angel to me at a time when I most needed an Angel. You may be the first adult that I felt really saw me and made me feel important and loved. You put me in charge of holding your lipstick after lunch, and it made me feel important and special. You were the most significant positive adult in my childhood. You were so special and I have held on to the special memories you helped make for all these years. I am 49 now, and I have thought of you often all these years when I need to remember some thing good and pure. And when I need to remember what love feels like. You were my Angel and I know you are continuing your good work on the other side. Bless you sweet loving soul and I hope to make you proud until I see you again.

All my love to you,

Terrina, Your Pickle Buddy

Mrs. Dodson was my all time favorite teacher. I had the privilege to reconnect with her as an adult. She always had my respect and love. What a role model to the rest of us! She is responsible for my life long love of reading.
What a wonderful influence she was to so many third graders! She will be missed. She was a lovely woman inside and out.

Lots of love to Bud and Julie!

Mrs. Dodson was my third grade teacher. I have wonderful memories of being called her "chickadee". And of lolipops in class and of sunny, happy days with her. She had a way of making each of us feel loved and valuable. I know she will be missed.

Thank you all for the messages. Mom indeed was "one of a kind" in every sense of the word. She was always positive, made everyone laugh, placed God first, family second, and community service third.

She is now happy, healthy again, breathing freely, and stirring up Heaven with her jokes.

I love you MOM, hope I am half the fabulous woman you have been all my life!

We treasure the years of friendship and will miss Lou. She had a special way of creating 'sunshine' even on difficult days. We often spoke of the splendor of heaven and know that we will gather together once again. No doubt she will have a good joke to share! Our love to all the family.
